The 2014 Jaguar F-Type is an all new model that is basically the first roadster in the 40 year history of the Jaguar and is a convertible. The F-Type is a blend of Jaguars traditional eye catching appeal and luxury, thrilling performance and class leading comfort. Jaguar F-Type is the first roadster of this luxury brand that has to face some challenges to make a strong position in the segment because these days the market leader is Porsche’s 911 Carrera Cabriolet. However, Jaguar does not need to worry about this new sports convertible because Jaguar has a strong market reputation of forty years of innovation, luxury, refinement and progress.
The new 2014 F-Type is offered in three trims, the base, S and V8 S.
Styling, Comfort and Features
Jaguar never disappointed its enthusiastic in the field of styling and appearance of its products and therefore we can once again expect a high end, sophisticated and eye watering appeal of the new F-Type roadster. The new 2014 Jaguar F-Type is styled under the supervision of the Ian Callum, the Jaguar Design Director, who has been the credit of designing Aston Martin Vanquish and DB7 and we are aware of the athletic features and the popularity of both the models across the world.
Standard exterior features of the F-Type include an aggressive front, automatic bi-xenon headlights, air intakes, headlight washers, LED running lights, rain sensing wipers, heated side mirrors and deployable rear spoiler.The base trim rolls over 18 inch alloy wheels, the S on 19 inch alloy wheels and the V8 S on 20 inch alloy wheels.
Inside the F-Type, Jaguar tried to use superior quality materials and so the interior of the F-Type is one of the luxury interiors in the class. Standard on the base trim are full power accessories, leather and suede upholstery, six way power adjustable seats, automatic climate control, auto dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, 8-inch touchscreen display with navigation system, Bluetooth, 10-speaker sound system with CD player, iPod interface and auxiliary audio jack. As usual, moving up to the upper trims means exploring more standard and advance features.
The base and S trims get Premium 1 and 2 packages whereas the V8 S adds Premium 3 package as well as Vision Pack to enjoy a long list of advanced features bundled in these packages. Performance Packages are also available for the S and V8 S trims.
Antilock disc brakes, seat mounted side airbags, stability control, traction control and rollover protection bars are standard on all F-Type whereas the V8 S also adds rear parking sensors.
Powertrain and Performance
Two engine choices are available for the 2014 F-Type roadsters. The base and S models gets 3.0L Supercharged V6 produces 340HP and 332 lb-ft on base and 380HP and 339 lb-ft on the S. The acceleration from 0-60 mph is 5.1 seconds and 4.8 seconds respectively.
The V8 S model gets a 5.0L Supercharged V8 produces 495HP and 460 lb-ft and lifts to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The rear wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic is standard across the F-Type lineup. EPA rated fuel economy is 23-28 mpg highway.
